That’s right, the day we have all been waiting for, GIFs have returned to Facebook! Let me pause for a moment to express my feelings about this latest addition to the social media giant.
The important part: how to embed a GIF on Facebook
In a post by Mashable it was announced that Giphy had partnered with Facebook to allow native embedding and animation of the popular image format that became ever popular on Tumblr. Simple head over to Giphy’s website and find a GIF that suits your needs, click the Facebook share link and share some animated fun!
Why is this so exciting?
While this is still not the perfect solution (GIFs don’t auto play). It finally allows us the opportunity to share fun, looping micro content with our friends and fans. This is exciting to me as a personal user who enjoys sharing humorous content with my friends and family, I took no hesitation in jumping on what is sure to be bandwagon activity. As a marketing professional though, this is a great way for early adopters to set themselves apart from other members of their industry.
We all know that photo content performs remarkably well on Facebook as compared to text. The problem is, we all know this. Giphy’s platform gives us another way to differentiate and provide, exciting, consumable content. I would love to see how you will incorporate this into your personal or professional Facebook activities. Please, comment below or tweet me @qcmny and share your experience!
